An elementary school teacher believed the fluff of a picturesque brochure and signed up for the adventure of a lifetime, on horseback.

Before she had time to question her on sanity, she finds herself smack in the middle of driving a herd of horses and mules over one hundred miles, in just four days.

The terrain was brutal: up and down steep mountain ranges and through raging rivers.

Mary, the main character adds a splash of humor to this story as mishap after mishap happens to her and she jokingly refers back to the colorful brochure and how inaccurate it had been written.

In the evenings worn out bodies were refueled with alcohol. The mixture of high altitudes, exhaustion and strong liquor led to explosive, outlandish behavior as riders celebrated and stories flowed.
